Tortillas/ Pizza Crust/ Crackers/ Pitas {1 recipe}

We LOVE this recipe!!!!!! For pennies you can make tortillas that would cost you $5 in the store.

You can use this recipe so many ways: personal pizzas, flat bread, pitas, chips, wraps, tacos, crackers. Depending on their purpose, just adjust how you roll the dough.

Basic Dough Recipe
3 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup warm water
1/4 cup olive oil, coconut oil or butter, melted
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. sea salt

Combine flour, water, oil, baking powder and salt. Knead until the dough is workable but not too stiff.

tortillas
Shape into 8 – 10 balls and let stand 10 minutes. Roll out to form a 10 inch circle or use a tortilla press. Lightly salt each side
Cook on a lightly greased griddle till done (not browned). Toast for about 20-30 sec. per side.

pizza crust
Preheat over to 400 degrees. Put baking stone/baking pan in the oven to get hot. Let dough stand for 15 minutes before rolling out. Roll out crust to desired shape, size and thickness. When pan is hot, add crust. Cook 5-8 minutes until just lightly brown- for a crispy crust. For a softer crust cook less time. Remove from oven, top with sauce and ingredients. Return to oven.
To make a pan pizza- put dough in a hot deep baking dish and then add toppings right away. Bake

crackers
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Let dough stand 15 minutes before rolling out. Roll out dough very thin. Place on baking sheet/ stone. Optional: add herbs or parmesan cheese to the dough before kneading or sprinkle on top of rolled out dough before baking. Bake 10-12 minutes until golden brown.

pitas
Shape dough into balls. Let stand 10 minutes. Preheat oven at 400 degrees and place baking pan in oven to get hot. Roll out dough into rounds. Salt the top. Place on hot baking sheet. Bake 5-8 minutes.
